For a time Monday morning, I thought Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder was giving quite a fine speech. He was articulate as always and he was speaking passionately and with a great deal of knowledge. He invoked the names of Washington, Lincoln and Reagan. He talked about American exceptionalism, the virtues of legal immigration and the sanctity of the Declaration of Independence.
Unless I'm mistaken, I believe Kinder, a Cape Girardeau resident, even got a bit emotional as guest speaker at the ceremony...
