Nearly half the members of Congress are millionaires, so giving them raises with a national debt of more than $15 trillion probably doesn't make a lot of sense.
At least it doesn't to U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson, R-Cape Girardeau, who voted Wednesday in favor of a measure to prohibit a pay increase for members of Congress. The Cape Girardeau Republican has continued to vote against any such pay increases in the past.
